Has any one ever had these symptoms?

my father has swelling in the arms, legs, hands, fingers, toes ect... It is very painfull and jumps around. One day it will be in his arm the next his other arm or leg ect... He has been told it was arrthitis then gout and the doctors have been going back and forth. he has been to the emergcy room abot 3 times with no luck.
