Why does mankind follow holidays such as Halloween Christmas etc without researching their origins?

As you grow up and if you attend church, you will hear the preacher talk against the occult yet on halloween children of parents who claim Christianity dress their children up as witches, devils and so on and isn't it strange how we celebrate Christmas. I thought it was the birth-date of Christ. You wonder how Santa Claus entered the picture. Was he flying over the little stall that held the Christ child?Now wouldn't that have been a sight! We never stop to think about how and why we play the holiday rituals out.What do you think?
